LDSnet provides the user with the capability to access and view information stored in the Fairfax County Land Development System (LDS) for zoning applications (Zoning and Planning System – ZAPS) and site/construction plans (Plans and Waivers System – PAWS). LDSnet is accessed from the Fairfax County Information Web (Internet/Intranet) home page by clicking on the LDSnet link. After clicking on the link, the LDSnet home page will come up. The LDSnet home page provides the user with a choice of five (5) buttons to click on to access information from the LDS system. These five (5) options are as follows:
The following sections provide additional information about these options.
LDSNET OVERVIEW
To access this page, the user clicks on the "LDSnet Overview" button. The overview page provides the user with some general information on LDSnet and provides links to access additional information on ZAPS and PAWS. The user clicks on the link for the information desired. After the user has accessed the desired information, there is a link to take the user back to LDSnet or back to the Fairfax County Information Web, to exit the system.
ZONING AND PLANNING (ZAPS)
If the user wants to view information on a zoning application and they know the specific application number, clicking on this button takes the user to a window to enter the required information. The user enters the number into the individual application search field and clicks on the "Search" button. Then, a search results window appears with a highlighted link for the individual application number. By clicking on this link, the user will be taken to the application overview window where they can begin viewing the information.
PLANS AND WAIVERS (PAWS)
If the user wants to view information on an individual site/construction plan and knows the specific submission number, clicking on this button takes the user to a window to enter the required information. The user enters the number into the individual submission search field and clicks on the "Search" button. Then, a search results window appears with a highlighted link for the individual submission number.By clicking on this link, the user will be taken to the submission overview window, to view the information.
SEARCH
The LDSnet Search function allows the user to select one or more standardized criteria to search for information on a zoning application or site/construction plan. The search can be conducted to access a single zoning application or site plan submission or can include a number of search criteria to identify multiple applications or submissions matching the selected criteria. To access this function, the user clicks on the Search button and is taken to a window where information on the specific application or submission must be entered.
The standard search criteria contain information that is common to both ZAPS and PAWS. The following is a list of the criteria contained in the standard search:
- Application/Submission Type
- Application/Submission Received Date Range (limited to five years)
- Application/Submission Accepted Date Range (limited to five years)
- Participant Name and Role
- Tax Map Number
- Magisterial District
The user can select information from a pick list or type in the information for one or more search criteria. After selecting the criteria, clicking on the "Search" button will initiate the search and the results will be displayed on a summary window. The user clicks on the application or submission number and the system takes the user to a set of detailed information windows. If the user selects a zoning application, the user will go into ZAPS to view the detailed information and if a site/construction plan is selected, the user will go into PAWS to view the detailed information.
CUSTOM SEARCH
If the LDSnet standard search does not provide the criteria required to obtain the desired information, the user can go to custom search by clicking on the button on the main LDSnet page. Custom search contains a list of over 30 criteria that can be selected by the user. The criteria are organized into several groups including ones that are common between ZAPS and PAWS, criteria unique to ZAPS, and criteria unique to PAWS.
The user can select one or more criteria for the search by pressing "Ctrl" on the keyboard and clicking on the desired criteria. It should be noted that mixing specific PAWS and ZAPS criteria may not provide any search results. Once the user has selected the search criteria, clicking on the "Search" button will initiate the search. The results will be displayed in the form of a table with the application or submission number highlighted. Clicking on one of the highlighted application or submission numbers will then bring the user to the overview window.
At this point, if the user selected a zoning application number, the system will go to the ZAPS portion of the system to view the detailed information. If the user selected a site plan/construction plan, the system will go to the PAWS portion of the system to view the detailed information. The user can screen print the information on the window as well.
After the user has completed viewing information, the user can go back to the custom search function to search for other applications or submissions, go back to the search results window to look at other applications or submissions if a multiple application search was performed, or exit the system.
